Art Shows at Center for the Arts

Taylor Glenn, Mark Newport, Jean Laughton, Ben Roth, Terry Tempest Williams, and Felicia Resor had an art opening in the Center for the Arts on Friday night.
Glenn showed very cool photos of a Chinese factory.

Newport’s knitted super hero costumes and cartoon-like drawings were very fun and creative.

Laughton’s photos were cinematic depictions of cowboy life in the South Dakota badlands.

Ben Roth, Terry Tempest Williams, and Felicia Resor collaborated on a spooky circle of skulls.

Cubs meet Dodgers – Hollywood at JHMS

The Cubs and Dodgers met in a legendary match-up at Alpine Field in Jackson, WY. The see-saw battle was cut short when a majority of the players had to leave the game and perform in Mrs. Brubank’s 4th grade music concert at Jackson Hole Middle School. The theme was “At The Movies”, and showcased song, dance, and drama. Recorders and kazoos also made an appearance.

Carnaval de Tlaxcala

Carnaval de Tlaxcala took place Saturday in the parking lot of the Teton County Library. This was a crazy 45 minute long polka with no breaks in the music. Deafening keyboard and bass blasted out of the sound system drowning out the trap set while dancers jived in vivid costumes. Very cool, but also quite tedious.

Pro-Israel Demonstration Looks a Little Lonely

Three lonesome demonstrators showed their support for Israel on Monday on the northwest corner of Broadway and Buffalo Way.  I dropped by to show some support and to chat for a while.  Though I’m a big fan of Israel I’m not a Kool-Aid drinker.  I realize that the Palestinians have a beef, and that there needs to be accommodation on both sides, but I admire Israel’s scrappy courage in the face of threats from psychotically hostile neighbors and the hypocritical condemnation of the majority of U.N. states.
