The Jackson Hole High School Orchestra performed a winter concert at the High School on Thursday night. The orchestra looked good and sounded o.k.. The cello choir was pretty rockin’. What’s with all the good cello players in this orchestra? Don’t they know that cello is lame. Morose, oversized compared to a violin, puny compared to a double bass. I guess cello is the new violin.

The airport has preferred parking for low emission vehicles. The snooty arrogance of the “greener than thou” movement is really tedious. With so many spaces reserved for the handicapped and the green elite the close in spots are getting hard to find. I’m worried that someday I’ll get to the airport and all the parking spots will have signs that say “Anybody but Judd”.

Pilobolus dancer/instructor, Winston Dynamite Brown, coaches the Dancer’s Workshop Junior Repertory Company (JRC) with small choreographed sketches in a Masterclass on Saturday morning. Pilobolus returned to Jackson Hole for workshops and a one-night performance at the Center Theater at the Center for the Arts.

About 30 people showed up on the Town Square today to represent the 99% who would like to wrest more money and power from the 1%. Protesters were polite and well spoken. Their wide ranging concerns included the undue influence of lobbyists and money on politics, concern that the rich and corporations aren’t paying enough taxes, the need for healthcare reform, the need to protect the environment, and the need to create more jobs. The University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra performed at Walk Hall last night (http://www.uwyo.edu/music/ensembles/symphony_orchestra.html). They are good! I was impressed with the skill of the players. The orchestra nearly outnumbered the audience. I hate all the phony baloney formality of classical music: goofy tuxes, applause upon the entering of the soloist and the conductor. They did a modern classical piece that was quite charming.
