Towards the service of War or Life?

The following question and response was part of a job application I submitted last year to Bruce Mau Designs.  I never heard back from them, but don't think I could've managed living in Toronto anyway. 

I felt the 3 questions requested were worthy of my time.  This is a reply to just one of them.  The other 2 will follow.  It was nice to write something different other then the usual  Chi'bagoda Project hustle.

Will we shift from the service of war to the service of life?

We will only make the shift from a service of War to the service of Life if we can eliminate the huge profits associated with the "business" of war.  This will require a restructuring of our government systems that enforce a "separation of corporation and state".  Defining the roles of "Church and State" was a great beginning, but history is repeating itself and we're basically back where we started. 

Democracy in this nation has essentially sold to the highest bidder.  We are currently experiencing our own form of feudalism.

The Republican Party, who are merely puppets of the monstrous military/industrial/oil complex love war.  They view it as a corporate venture.  Many believe, myself included, that the trigger of our most recent conflicts, aka “9/11”, was actually choreographed by our own kind.  The ultra wealthy elite families running the “independent within the government” Federal Reserve Bank also being involved.  

When the government goes to war, where else do they borrow the money to wage it?  All that interest sure adds up while basic services in this country continue to plummet.

The facts, figures, time line and most importantly the physics behind the so-called “terrorist” attack on Sept. 11 overwhelm with evidence that it was a pre-planned attack.  All of which has been ignored, denied or repressed by our current administration, because they were a part of it all.

The internet is overflowing with sources describing how this conspiracy "theory" is actually irrefutable “fact”.  No steel framed building has ever collapsed due to fire.  It is literally impossible for jet fuel to generate enough heat to melt steel by at least 1000 degrees.

The steel infrastructure in the Twin towers was excessively overbuilt and intentionally designed to withstand multiple 707 impacts.  Mysteriously, it was found perfectly collapsed upon it's footprint in 30' sections.  Photographs reveal that these beams were cleanly sliced at 45 degrees.  A feat only accomplished by explosives.  Traces of which have been found on site.  

I am most confident that if an independently crafted replica of the Twin Towers were created, only a few floors would be necessary, and the hijacking were re-simulated we would not see any collapse at all.  I honestly doubt that the remote controlled 757 would even completely penetrate the building.  I look forward to the opportunity to see this event with my own eyes.  Hopefully, at a future Burning Man.

There were also countless eye witness accounts, 503 officially documented, which were ignored by the "official" 9/11research committee.  Most of those interviewed describe hearing explosive sounds that are eerily similar to planned building detonations.

There are also visible "squibs", a term from the demolition industry, in recorded video footage of the perfect implosion.  These are the explosive "puffs" seen as the floors mysteriously "pancake" upon itself.   Reviewing the clip of the initial plane crash will also reveal an explosive flash just a split second before impact.  The hijacked planes also departed from an airport whose security was managed by George W. Bush's brother Marvin.

And then there is Tower 7, which apparently was "weakened" by the Twin Tower collapse.  According to Larry Silverstein, who gained a 99 year lease on the WTC complex in the spring of 2001, a decision was "regretfully made" to "pull" the building around 5:30 pm on Sept.11.  The building was vacated by 11:30am.   

Does this mean that a demolition crew arrived on the scene in that short time, amongst all that chaos, and packed the 47 story building with explosives to choreograph the graceful, 6.5 second implosion? 

Or, does it mean that the building was all ready prepared to be triggered for demolition and merely required a "push of the button" to detonate?  The latter is the only realistic response, yet our monopolized media never approaches this fact that 9/11 was a pre-planned event.

Towers 3-6 sustained far more damage from the Twin Towers collapse and yet their steel frames stood until they were demolished by clean up crews months later in mid December.  What is also critical to note is that what was "regretfully" lost in the Tower 7 collapse were documents pertaining to the Enron scandal and the electricity "shenanigans" that effected California.  

Larry Silverstein, due to his lease negotiations, received an insurance settlement of 12 billion dollars and maintained the rite to rebuild.  The real estate saying "location, location, location" has been taking to apocalyptic levels, right in front of the worlds eyes.  Our so-called government, however, still “officially” blames Saudi Arabian hijackers who were confirmed to not only be lousy pilots, but many are in fact still alive today.

The American people must wake up to the reality of our current situation.  We are at war with ourselves.   1984 is now.  Orwell tried to warn us, but it seems we're more concerned about Britney Spears then the darkness infecting our government.  Have we been domesticated by fear or stupidity?  Likely a combination of both.

The Prophecy of War Profiteering

For the majority, war is a hell, but for a few who reside comfortably in their gated communities, war is a trillion dollar business venture.  It says on the US currency "In God we trust" and as a nation founded by "Christians" we all know the commandment "though shall not kill".  The sad and twisted irony is obvious and yet the atrocities continue unabated.    

The cycle is complete, but this time the "money changers" have built themselves a new "temple" and are using this power to fund the killing of at least an estimated 300,000 innocent Iraqi civilians and more then 4000 American soldiers, all in the name of "liberation" and "democracy".  The only "Mission Accomplished" was to plunge this planet into chaos and turmoil.

The only effective solution to this mayhem is a globally unified government system.  An increase in the governing powers of the United Nations will be a crucial step in this direction of global stability.  Perhaps, we will need to become the "super heroes" of our youth and actually create a "Justice League" dedicated to promoting and supporting world peace.  I am ready when you are.

The USA has become far worse then the empire it originally ousted to become this nation.  We are the "Redcoats" now.  Our current conquests are not "liberating" anyone, but merely funneling funds into corporate machines of war.  Contractors in Iraq at times have played football with bundled wads of Ben Franklins.  Then of course, there was the C1-30, crammed with pallets loaded with 12 billion in cash that was never seen again.

We learned in Vietnam, also a war based on lies since the Gulf of Tonkin incident has been confirmed to be false, that you can't effectively combat "guerrillas" in the jungle.  US forces are now we realizing that the "concrete jungles" of Iraq are proving to be perhaps an even more difficult an arena to control.  Let us hope that when this fiasco is finally resolved we will have the wisdom to ascend to more peaceful political practices.

Instead of dropping bombs how about burritos?  If we are supposedly a Christian nation, and the great Jewish nomadic carpenter said to love and feed your enemy, then why are we still killing people?  The US military's insensitive policy towards human live is merely fueling the inferno burning in the middle east, not putting it out.  Meanwhile, our own soldiers are being treated as disposable pawns.

At the very least, we have the technology to develop non-lethal weaponry systems.  Air-powered paint ball guns that shoot a tranquilizer projectile “ball” would be an easy start.  They ammunition could be designed to break the skin, quickly sedating the adversary, instead of killing them.  Various gas bombs could also readily be developed that wouldn't terminate life, but merely subdue it for a few hours while their hostile weapons are destroyed and left in their laps.   

Optimally, a “mind expansion” compound would be incorporated to hopefully induce an inner illumination to the senselessness of war.  It's time to begin opening our opponents “3rd eye” instead of this souless “eye for an eye” approach.  It is clear that our government leaders have all ready gone blind long ago.  

The Dalai Lama has stated that "War is outdated" and I do believe this to be true.  However, there will be an inevitable transition period approaching us where corruption and oppression must be promptly and gracefully eradicated from this planet.  We can no longer tolerate atrocities and genocide to continue, even in lands that do not contain significant oil reserves.  It is only when we realize that we are all "One" will we finally have won this deceptive "war on terror" and shift towards a service of Life instead of War.

In my efforts to liberate the minds of fellow friends and family to the overwhelming atrocities behind 9/11 I am met with a consistent reaction. “I refuse to believe that our own government would lie and assassinate it’s own people” is a reoccurring theme.

These ignorant responses obviously come from people who haven’t done their homework. We now know that the “gulf of tonkin” incident which led to the Vietnam War was a lie. It’s also been documented that the attack on Pearl Harbor was encouraged and allowed to unfold. The Lusitania set sail pre-packed with explosives so that when it was inevitably hit by german torpedoes it quickly sank and off to WW I we went. The Republican war drums now bang for Iran and it’s confirmed that we’ve all ready been lied to about their “nucular” programs. They hunger for WW 3.

I’ve always been a fan of Star Wars, but how did George Lucas know that his futuristic tale would become such a perfect metaphor for our current political crisis? The Death Star is our White House and even Cheney agrees when he joked he was all ready wearing his Darth Vader costume last Halloween.

We are now collectively engaged in own own global mythology, classic “Good vs. Evil”. Who wins remains to be seen, but will decide all of our fates. This so called “war on terror” is a choreographed deception just like the false pretenses for WW I, II, Vietnam and likely soon Iran.

We all have minds, but they are worthless if you allow your TV to do your thinking for you. Please turn it off and do your homework before its to late. The truth is out there. It’s waiting for you online.

On the Deck, Star Trek: interview with William Bagley

I recently blipped an email to my Tanran Reiki teacher/founder William Bagley to see if he'd be interested in a Q+A session about Reiki and how he the Tanran lineage formed. Reiki is essentially "human jumper-cable-ism".

A series of "attunements" are necessary to essentially "hit the circuit breaker" to allow your hands to channel "chi" aka Ki, life force energy, prana, that which flows through all things, etc. etc. depending on which culture you're addressing, but it's all the same "stuff" just different names for the same thing.

A "Reiki Master" is someone who has received the 3 attunements, which is nothing more then a series of symbols being "drawn" over your head/crown chakra. The term "Master" however is, in my opinion, a misnomer. It only means that the practitioner has the ability to channel chi freely, but not necessarily that they have extensive experience and really no what they're doing.

Would you hand someone a hammer and tool belt and call them a Master carpenter?  No, you wouldn't so, the same should apply for the Reiki community.  I refer to myself as a Tanran Reiki Practioner.  Ir's one of many hats that I wear. 

The history behind the rediscovery of this innate but repressed ability in all humans is quite the tumble down the rabbit hole that Will we begin communicating to those who are interested.  This Wiki link for "Reiki" is a good place to start:

I like the idea of an interview being done and do not mind if the blog environment is political. There are some messages worth sharing in this regard anyway. I do find that some of the conspiracy stuff out there creates a pessimistic and self defeating feeling. It might be good to have some awareness of what is going on in the world, but if some of the theories I hear are true, then the battle has already been lost (which I do not think is the case). I think things will get better and that much of the conspiracy stuff is, in the words of Timothy Leary, "typical mammalian politics". As Homo Sapiens fades out of existence to be replaced by Homo Telepathicus, this will change naturally. If ordinary apes battle for water holes in the desert and ordinary humans battle for oil in the same desert, then their politics are too myopic to stop the shift into another paradigm where energy scarcity will not exist. Paradoxically, controlling the oil as a power base has two weaknesses, (a) you have to sell it to people like us and keep it affordable enough for us to keep buying it, and (b) it is a finite supply so eventually an alternative will be needed. A large number of prescription drugs require petroleum distillates, so that if the oil runs out, then allopathic medicine may need to change some too.

Rats those meddling kids: response to Barbara Cubin

This letter to the editor went to print in the Planet sometime during spring of '07, but even more applicable today.  The Republicans are just trying to keep a sinking ship afloat just long enough to dump it on Democrat hands, while cackling all the way to the bank.

You're "fight to win" guest columnist piece in the Feb. 21-27, '07 PlanetJH weekly eerily reminded me of sideline pep talks from childhood soccer games perverted with Orwellian "Newspeak" straight out of 1984. This concerned me enough to respond to your words.


The current Dalai Lama, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate has stated that "war is outdated". The experiences since the US invaded Iraq are proving this statement to be true. This realization, however, is unfortunately not the result of enlightened consciousness, but the exact opposite.


War has become outdated not because of superior hi-tech weaponry, but due to the fact that the insurgents have resorted to fanatically primal levels to further their cause.


Specifically, war has become outdated, because you can never win when you there is an endless supply of fundamental martyrs willing to transform themselves into human guided cruise missiles.


You write fervently about how important it is to win this war, but it appears to myself and millions of other concerned global citizens that it is all ready lost. Of coure, we now know that the WMDs turned out to be "Weapons of Mass Delusion" and the preemptive strike was never justified in the first place. Please, shake a little salt on those "freedom fries".


A troop surge is merely a desperate attempt to prolong the inevitable and dump that responsibility on Democratic hands after '08 elections. It is important to remind you that the "disgrace forever" you mention rest solely on the Bush regime, not the entire United States.


You also state that "we did not choose to start this war", but the facts, figures, and especially the physics behind 9/11 reveal an entirely different story. It points to an "inside job". A "Pearl Harbor" type incident choreographed to initiate the Iraqi conflict. War is big business after all and if business is slow, then why not start a war?


I suspect that the Iraq fiasco will end like an old "Scooby Doo" rerun. When the mask of Bin Laden is finally removed, we'll see Dick Cheney's grimacing face. "Rats, those meddling kids."

The creation of an affordable, sustainable and seismically resistant alternative to contemporary wood, steel and concrete building methods will be an extremely profitable venture.  Chi'bagoda Industries will pioneer the future in green, prefab, design/build architectural methods.


The profits generated through our "conscious capitalist", efforts will then fuel a Non Profit wing focused on educational outreach efforts around this lovely orbiting sphere we all call "Home."  These clinics will promote regional sustainable development utilizing locally accessible bamboo sources.  They will also provide us essential engineering research to then be integrated back into our For Profit ventures.


Over time, jobs in these emerging communities will be created to pre-fabricate the structural elements of our design/build bamboo housing requests.  Only the parts will be crafted, packed in a shipping container, and sent to its destination for final assembly on a prepared foundation.


The "Perma Yurt" design, being the most simplistic, will allow the homeowner to also be the architect.  Dimensional  inputs and insulation strategy, along with latitude coordinate, can create their future abode virtually on our website.  It will then emerge on their site a few months later, specifically tuned to its location to provide passive-solar benefits.


Once our progressive business gears gain momentum, we will systematically be able to address global housing needs, combat global warming, and transform the global economy, while manifesting a profitable enterprise that will be poised to solve other challenges that need to be addressed.  These primarily include sustainable energy, transportation, food and clothing production.  Bamboo will play a role in all of these efforts.  These designs are all ready simmering in the back burners of my mind.

Take the Retards to the Zoo

Note: by using the word "retard" to describe our current president, George Bush, I use the word not in disrespect of the "developmentally disabled" community. I have worked with D.D. adults and youth out at C-V Ranch and at a summer camp in upstate NY. My experiences profoundly sparked levels of compassion and patience that I never imagined even existed within my being. Those jobs were profoundly transformative for me.

My choice is the word "retard" was in reference to this definition from Dictionary.com:

Noun) a person who is stupid, obtuse, or ineffective in some way: a hopeless social retard.

Also, as the few skate punk hardcore music fans out there may remember, "Taken the Retards to the Zoo" was a song from the late 80s written and performed by an old favorite band from my youth "The Dead Milkmen". TAKE THE RETARDS TO THE ZOO

Our current president, the Great Decider, the one who makes many decisions, has regularly made numerous comments about his poor grades while an undergraduate at Yale University: “To the ‘C’ students, I say, ‘You too can be President of the United States.’”I suspect that the reason for George W. Bush’s repeated public self-degradation is that he is aware of his impending doom.

When conspiracy “theories” are inevitably proven to be “fact” and Bush stands trial for crimes against humanity, he will attempt to use his blatantly dismal intelligence to escape punishment. He’ll likely say “Hey, I got a low C average, I am the dumbest president this nation has ever seen, I just do what Dick and my Daddy tell me to do, so cut me some slack, don’t mess with Texas!!"

A few blocks from the White House of Cards is the D.C. Zoo. I suggest that the only slack this nation should bestow upon Bush for the death, destruction and financial waste that he initiated through his senseless, profit-driven invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan is to engage in a slight remodel of the orangutan exhibit area. This shall be his future home, along with bunk beds for Cheney and Chumpsfield.

We can add a dirt track so he can ride around on his mountain bike to get some exercise and fresh air. The Three Stooges can swing around to their hearts content, while the rest of world can feel safe, free from their empirical, greed driven, desires. At the D.C. zoo, tourists will come from all over the world to see the pariahs perform in person. They’ll pose for pictures and feed the soul-less monkeys “freedom fries” through the bars.

Iodine Deficiency/Cancer link

 

The big problem with the US health care arena is that it's so heavily controlled by the pharmaceutical corporations. They are the major puppeteers in manipulating government policies. Please see "Sicko" by Michael Moore for informative edutainement.

Recently, evidence is showing that the rise in cancer rates in this nation, particularly breast and prostrate, appear to be related to a deficiency in iodine in the American diet. Please consider increasing seaweed into your diet as it is a natural and potent source of iodine that is readily absorbed by your body.

Research has also shown that Japanese women who eat a traditional diet, which is high in seaweed, have very low rates of breast cancer. Sushi is also quite yummy.

Joshua Doolittle, artist-cum-inventor, can barely

speak fast enough to spit out his bazillion ideas. His

sage-colored eyes brighten as he spins them off -

green building design, climbing areas, emergency

shelters, technical clothes, and his newest idea:

"Chi'Bagoda" bamboo architecture.


Combining technical training with a strong environmental

ethic, the Rhode Island School of Design

alumnus and Colorado native says bamboo presents

a viable solution to preserving natural resources. He

calls bamboo the "ultimate renaissance material"

that can save the environment and help the needy,

promoting cheap, sustainable living. Doolittle's plan

involves creating structures that "salvage our global

environment," he said.


Bamboo tends to crack when harvested, which is

actually a good thing. Breaking the bamboo poles

down into strips creates a stable structural element.

Doolittle says these strips can then be banded or laminated

to create the structural elements of whatever

you are wishing to build: a five-story urban building

in Sao Paulo, Brazil, or a 100-foot diameter, solar powered

greenhouse dome to provide a consistent climate

for drought-stricken Africans.


The circular "Chi'Bagoda" domes at the center of

his plan begin with composite bamboo ribs attached

to a central hub. The mushroom form is constructed

of composite bamboo strip bundles and structural

supports. The frame is then sheathed with a layer of

woven bamboo mats, followed by a concrete or adobe

stucco skin. Passive solar systems can then supplement

standard plumbing and electrical systems.

Although he dreams of spreading the idea worldwide,

Doolittle first hopes to build a prototype

through Bamboo Technologies' facility in Vietnam.

fastest growing plant on Earth. It produces greater

biomass and 30 percent more oxygen than a hardwood

forest on the same area, while improving

watersheds, preventing erosion, restoring soil, providing

sweet edible shoots and removing toxins

from contaminated soil.


Bamboo timber can be harvested every

year after seven years, compared to 30 to

50 years for trees. It can also be selectively

harvested annually and regenerates without

replanting.


With a tensile strength comparable to

steel and a weight-to-strength ratio surpassing

that of graphite, bamboo is the

strongest woody plant on Earth. Its 1,500

species thrive in diverse terrain from sea

level to 12,000 feet on every continent but

the poles.


"The bamboo grove is a giant rebar factory,"

Doolittle said, explaining how

durable yet cheap the natural material is.

Doolittle said Vietnam has about

200,000 square miles of bamboo forests.

Bamboo feeds people, houses them, and

provides raw materials for utensils,

weapons, baskets, ropes, hats and many

other practical and spiritual uses.


"It's clear that this idea has been successfully

implemented in various forms,"

he said. "The Mesopotamians built

Quonset huts like tea houses, using a

banded swamp reed technique to form

giant structural hoops. Many Iraqi buildings [like

this] have been standing for 3,000 to 5,000 years.
The South Iraqis of today still build using this
system."


The bamboo frame system remains pervasive

throughout Asia and Polynesia. Despite how widespread

they are, however, bamboo dwellings are

looked down upon in many societies.


"The trend with bamboo homeowners throughout

the world is to rebuild with lumber or cinder

blocks once they can afford to do so," Doolittle

explained. "They do this, because ... they want to

rise above the negative stigma of living in an abode

built with the ‘poor man's building material."


This western trend, Doolittle said, is non-sustainable

and will ultimately lead to further destruction.

With his Chi'Bagoda project, then, Doolittle is

doing more than simply building. He's proposing a

paradigm shift into what he calls "future primitive,"

a movement that allows modern people to simplify

their lives and reconnect to their landscape.


Start of a dream

As a teenager, Doolittle worked on construction

crews in Colorado with climbers who waxed eloquent

on environmental decimation. While in

Colorado, he dreamed Eldorado Canyon was inhabited

by a colony of circular dome huts. Chi'Bagoda is

a manifestation of that dream.


I am also into Buddhism, Taoism and Eastern

philosophy," Doolittle said. "The pagoda is a

Buddhist temple that generally has a stacked arch."

In addition, Doolittle has been studying a 3,000-

year-old form of Tai Chi for the past eight years.

"So ‘Chi'Bagoda' is a fusion of ‘Chi' and ‘pagoda,'

but Chi'Bagoda has a better ring to it than

Chi'Pagoda."


Bamboo itself represents

the dichotomy of

wealth and nothingness.

It is also quick growing,

high, straight and very

strong, qualities that

present not only a high quality

building material,

but also something spiritual

in traditional Chinese

culture, something that

symbolizes positive

human qualities.


Seeking advice, ideas

and funding, Doolittle

has tapped resources in

Burlington, Vt., Boulder,

Colo., Ventura, Calif., Portland, Ore.,

Maui, Hawaii, Providence, R.I., and

now Vietnam and Saigon.


With the help of many people -

his primary teammates are Zak

Rosser, whom he met at the Brew

Pub one night, and Mike Gestwick,

whom he met during an "afternoon

art adventure" around Moran, but

aid has come from RISD professors,

Vietnamese bamboo farmers, his Tai

Chi instructor Greg Brazelton, and

Teresa Griswold and Steve Crafts

who did some graphic design work

for the project - Doolittle has created

"patentable building material

that is an organic, sustainable

expression of steel rebar, but much

easier and lighter to work with since

you can use standard carpentry tools

and fasteners," he said.


The Chi'Bagoda design recently

won an honorable mention in the sustainable

development Pangaea

Institute Design Competition and was

included in "Emergent: New Directions

in Sustainable Art and Design," hosted

by Doolittle's alma mater.


"The competitions are really getting

this project moving," Doolittle said.


Gimme shelter

In addition to building homes and

offices, Doolittle hopes the Chi'Bagoda

design can be used for emergency shelters.

These lighter, fabric-skinned

domes could be mass produced.


They could be shipped to disaster

areas to be used as temporary but

long-term emergency housing, storage,

clinics, meal areas, etc.," he said.


"The bamboo Chi'Bagoda

would not only provide a

more affordable, sustainable

and culturally appropriate

response to the

housing crisis, but also a

structural system that

has proven to be highly

earthquake resistant."

He claims that bamboo

structures in

Columbia and Costa Rica

have survived 7.2 and

7.5 magnitude earthquakes

while surrounding

cinderblock dwellings

collapsed.


"The bottom line is

that with some tinkering,

we should be able to

build just about anything,

but the one optimal theme is to incorporate

arcs to gain the added structural

integrity that occurs when material

is put in tension," he said. "This is the

same premise behind dome tents."


Inventing a future

After researching, drawing and

talking to as many people as possible

for about eight months, Doolittle estimates

his full-scale prototype will cost

$8,000.


"We're pretty confident this is

going to work," he said. "This could

turn into developments all over the

world, for the Indonesian fisherman

to upscale Jacksonites and everything

in between."


Eventually, after building his prototype

in Asia, Doolittle hopes to gain

access to Vietnamese and Venezuelan

bamboo groves and turn Chi'Bagoda

into a business.


"The Chi'Bagoda vision is to also

operate a nonprofit division that

would be busy promoting and teaching

this idea in the economically

emerging nations of the world, many

of which already have abundant bamboo

sources," he said. "This is

extremely crucial if our planet is going

to survive, and us with it."


Moving a mile a minute, designing

and pontificating, telling anyone who

will listen, this local inventor continues

to spin. If you see someone scribbling

furiously in Pearl Street Bagels or

the library, it is likely Josh Doolittle

planning his next project or scheming

ways to come up with the money to

see his dreams turn into reality.

The Jesus-Speak Propaganda Project

Recently, I received a belated X-mas card forwarded
from my former Jackson P.O. box. It began with a
quote from Woodrow Wilson, 1911. “America was born a
Christian nation” is how it starts. This is a
delusional statement for history reveals the opposite.

Would Jesus have supported the decimation of the
Native Americans, the enslavement of Africans, or the
political oppression of women? How about clear
cutting the old growth forests of the entire east
coast or the annihilation of 40 million buffalo which
could have fed this entire continent if not the world?

I don't think so. 

These, however, are the conditions under which our
nation was actually “born”. Great progress has been
made, but there is clearly room for massive amounts of
improvement. I suspect that the 44 million suffering
and medically uninsured Americans, myself included,
are still waiting for this “birth” that would actually
meet Christian criteria.

It is thereby so incredibly ironic that President
Wilson, just 5 years later stated in regards to his
signing of the Federal Reserve Act: "I am a most
unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. We
have come to be one of the worst ruled, most
completely controlled and dominated governments in the
civilized world. No longer a government by free
opinion, and the vote of the majority, but a
government by the opinion and duress of a small group
of dominant men."
