To buy or not to buy

Winter in Jackson has made me crave fresh fruits and veggies...ones that won't wilt 2 days after I buy them and that will be flavorful and delicious. I used to live in a big city with farmers markets in every neighborhood on nearly any day of the week and tons of farms in the nearby towns. I'm trying to decide whether grocery stores and the farmers market will do the trick or whether it's worth buying a share at one of the farms over in Teton Valley. Has anyone tried both ways? How's the farmers market in terms of variety, price, quality? What about the farms? Is it worth the money?

Both Cosmic Apple Gardens and Blue Flax Farm are great CSA farms.  You definately get your money's worth and there is the benefit of supporting local food systems.  With Cosmic the earlier you sign up the more you save and they usually give you a 20% discount at the Farmer's Market on the Square, if you need to supplement but it's not usually needed.  Cosmic has a self serve kind of pick up and Blue Flax bags everything for you.  You can be proud to support either farm.  You can split a full share with a roommate or friend to make it even more affordable.  I don't have to buy produce all summer except for some fruit which I get at the farmer's market or Sloane Andrews' produce stand (usually across from Movieworks but I don't know where they'll be this year).  Good Luck!
