A dog park is a great way to get dogs excersize without the current level of wildlife and human disruption. I think a good way to get a dog park rolling is to have a day or two a week when dogs are banned in wildlife sensitive Cache Creek. Otherwise, I feel that dog owners aren't going to change their habits. The town discussed this for a while, but a privately owned pay per use park would work better.
A place filled with unpredictable pups feels like some kinda nightmare to me. Believe it or not I am a dog-friendly-person and only recently did it die. I am just unfriendly toward the idea of being overrun.
hey George Bush...I hope this post will generate some discussion and ideas on how to make a dog park happen. I'm skeptical that dog owners would pay to go to a park when there are free options...I guess it would have to be one fantastic park! But please elaborate on how you think it could work?
I hope you saw my last comment to you on the Anti-Freeze posting....and I have NOT gotten a sense that you hate dogs, but have been pushed beyond your limits due to your experiences.
About a dog park - I would NOT want any of my tax dollars to be spent on a park where privately owned dogs could run (on or off leash), bark, urinate, defecate and possibly attack humans. Any "dog park" should be acquired/built/maintained by private funds.
I think dogs should be banned on ALL our public lands. Let your dog run on *your* property, not *ours* and certainly not mine. Don't have enough space for your dog to run? Maybe you shouldn't have acquired the thing in the first place.
I love the idea of a dog park here in Jackson. I think it would be a great way to separate the dog lovers from those that don't share our passion, and provide a safe place for dogs to roam off leash and get much needed exercise. I don't think Christie ever proposed that this would be paid for with anyone's tax dollars. I think this would most definitely need to be funded privately and paid for by those that used it.
