Do you think snowmobiles in Yellowstone should be allowed? Some say they're much cleaner these days and not having much of an impact on the landscape or wildlife. Others disagree and believe Yellowstone is no place for snowmobiles. Some say towns like West Yellowstone would crumble without the money generated by the snowmobiling tourism industry.
I'm inclined to think that 720 snowmobiles PER DAY is a heck of a lot. It also seems like requiring a commercial guide is a necessity from an enforcement point of view, though it'll no doubt jack up the price for those wanting to go into the park on snowmobiles.
Then again, I'm not a snowmobiler and have not experienced the awe and majesty that you must feel when entering a place like Yellowstone in the winter. Though I can't imagine being able to appreciate that majesty what with constant whirring and whap whapping.
What do you think? Will the debate ever end? Can we reach a compromise?
